BUONA FORCHETTA
SOUTH PARK

Buona Forchetta started in 2011 as a craving of Matteo’s to bring some of his native Italy to his adopted home of South Park. He found the perfect corner, built the perfect oven and began his journey to deliver an exceptional and authentic Italian experience to our customers.  Our focus on the simple recipes that Matteo grew up on stays strong. We owe a huge “grazie” to our neighbors who have joined us on this awesome journey, and we hope that you will continue to be part of our story.

Over the past 12 years, Buona Forchetta has garnered both local and international accolades. Most recently, Buona Forchetta South Park won the San Diego Magazine Best Restaurants 2023 Best Pizza – Critics Choice” award and received the Gambero Rosso Pizza Accreditation 2022.

BUONA FORCHETTa

THE GOLDEN BABY

The golden baby, Sofia, was made by the maestro Stefano Ferrara. All Stefano Ferrara ovens are made by hand using materials that are capable of withstanding the high temperatures typical of Neapolitan pizza-making, which is anywhere from 700 to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. The crown and dome of his ovens are made with hand-pressed bricks, while the floor of the oven is formed out of Biscotto di Sorrento clay from Italy’s Sorrento region; these specifications ensure the uniformly retained heat so important for baking Neapolitan pizza.
